Tara & Karl

When a bride spontaneously picks up her dress and runs through a 12 foot wide channel of water to get to a sand bar for a cool picture - that's dedication!
Tara had a tough time getting through her speech - but she did it! Here she's thanking Karl's parents for "making him".
...and their reaction :)

Beth & Adam

Ever since the engagement session, we knew that we would be in for a fun time at their wedding. You could describe Beth & Adam as full of energy and up for anything!!
I swear these guys must have been practicing - they were so in sync!
Beth had inside connections to an amazing space - her office!
Adam's grandfather (aka Grampy) performed the marriage ceremony. He's pictured here congratulating Adam right after the ceremony.

Kimberley & Philip

We could tell when we met with Kimberley and Philip that there was something special between them. You could really feel how warm and giving their relationship is.

Jodi & Gurinder

Jodi & Gurinder's wedding was beautiful, and hard to believe that they planned the wedding without the groom ever seeing the location until this week! And what made the wedding even more beautiful was the relationships I saw there. I have never met a maid of honor as willing to do ANYTHING the bride needed! And check out this bridal party...climbing aboard a fairly "iffy" looking deck (not to mention the rock shot, you guys rocked the rock shot!) to get a shot that we wanted to try! These guys were real troopers! Thank you everyone for your willingness :)

Gabe & Jeff

We first met Gabe & Jeff at Shannon & Ryan's wedding in October of 2007. There was no missing the chemistry between them and I remember thinking they would be a great couple to work with. Last Saturday, nearly 2 years later, we had the opportunity!
There were countless smiles, wonderful music, beautiful Cape Breton scenery and a rainbow that seemed to last for hours!
Here's that 'chemistry' I saw when we first met Gabe and Jeff.
The receiving line is usually rushed so that you can get on with the rest of the day. Gabe and Jeff had the longest receiving line (in terms of time) we've ever seen and I'm so glad they did - there were so many touching moments. Here Gabe is thanking her parents - she wasn't the only one with tears in her eyes - Kate and I found ourselves pretty caught up in the moment too.

Maggie & Richard

Meet Ailish, Maggie and Richards daughter, and Connor having fun at the 4 Points Sheraton court yard. This place looks like a movie studio set in the 1800's, and I have to say we were a little envious of their venue. Thank you for having us!

Aisle Style

Far too often, brides and grooms just want to get the wedding part over with and get to the reception. I think brides and grooms feel a stronger connection with the reception because it's personalized by them. They made the choices' their colours, their favourite drinks, favourite songs, and their best friends & family. But there are plenty of ways to make the ceremony about you and create that magical once in a lifetime moment when you commit yourselves to one another.
For starters, go ahead and use modern songs. No one said you have to use the wedding march or pachabel's canon just because everyone else did. Walk down the aisle to an acoustic version of Green Day or Metallica even! Perhaps, your recessional song could be something upbeat & you can dance your way out!
The ceremony décor is often overlooked as well. You've all heard it before - there's no point in doing anything in that church - well I say there is! Having lush arrangements & unique aisle markers make for better photos every time not to mention one of the key factors to creating that feeling of that magical moment you dreamed of as a little girl! Imagine that picture of your first kiss, framed by beautiful blooms, sticks with hanging crystals, or perhaps even a chandelier floating overhead.
Ceremony Décor doesn't always mean more expense either. Get creative and find ways to double dip. I love to use the table centerpieces as aisle markers in the church. Those large arrangements at the front (and even back) of the aisle can become the head table, parents table or signature cocktail table pieces!
Don't make the mistake of overlooking the details for a magical ceremony. You can make it it happen if you put a few details together. After all, isn't that what this day is all about?

Victoria & Andrew

Three un-prompted moments from an incredible wedding!
While we were taking pictures of Victoria and Andrew, David his best man and Meghan her Matron on honour went for a bite to eat across the street.
In the "waiting room" only 10 minutes before the ceremony. With at least a dozen other people in the room, a narrow beam of sunlight came through the window and fell on just Victoria. What a stunning bride!
Off to Fred for the reception - cool couple - cool reception.

From the quaint little church to the boat ride to the reception, Katie and Scott's wedding was the perfect blend of excitement, elegance and fun.

Kelly & Marc

We had a busy week with 3 weddings, the first on Wednesday which happened to be 09/09/09. Kelly and Marc live in Bermuda, so even though it was a beautiful day, I think some of their guests found it a bit chilly.
There is a quiet connection between Kelly & Marc which we observed throughout the day and that I think is reflected in this image.
